Is the Org Putting Elders in the Firing Line?
by The Searcher inin view of the conti verdict of negligence by the org, are elders who are selected by the c.o.
now in a precarious position?
"charity trustees face potential liabilities in a number of ways.

If a couple of elders lose their shirt in a lawsuit over one of their decisions, the WT will be hard press to recruit any new elders. It is a double edge sword here. They can't distance themselves from the body of elders without supporting their judicial decisions and expect that more will step up to put their necks on the line. -

Fun at The WT This Morning
by OneFingerSalute inso ofs was at the wt this morning, and on par.
14 the question was, "what trust can a faithful christian whose relative is disfellowshipped have?".
after awhile when no one else raised their hands ofs did, and was called on.. ofs commented, "one of jw can have the trust that god will lovingly give them the ability to uphold the disfellowshipping arrangement by totally shunning family members.".

When I was DF'd some relatives/family members "Shunned" me and some didn't. It depends on which elder you talk to. I recall my parents talked to one elder that told them they could talk to me as long as it wasn't spiritual matters but then I know there was some hardline elders that would say you can't talk to a relative no matter what. -

Stay alive until 2025 has a nice ring to it-
Reminds me of some witness I knew before 1975. They were terminal ill with cancer and they would say if only I can just hang on till 1975 and be healed in the new system. Well they didn't make 1975 but it would have made no difference anyway.

Strange Moment During The 2015 Regional Convention
by JW_Rogue inhi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.
during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.
the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

Like someone said above, this religion has jumped the shark in recent years. The serious religion of my youth is DEAD. This is what is in it's place....dumbed down idiotic nonsense. At least the Oracle Fred Franz's stuff wanted you to think and examine things.
I have to agree with you. Even though the 1960 publications were made up fiction by Fred Franz, they at least made you think a bit. I know that in the last few years when I was still married to a dub and had a bit of contact with organization, the literature just seemed to be getting more and more dumbed down

JWism retaking control of wife's family
by The JHWH ina situation regarding this religion has developed which i fear might have negative implications on me and wifes lives, and i'm looking for thoughts and advice in how to approach the situation.
i'll start with some background information to enlighten the situation.. i'm a male in mid-twenties, raised secularly, married to an ex-jw woman (on paper still a jw though), who's been raised in the jw religion, although somewhat untheocratically shall i say.
for instance her mother has 5 children with 3 different men, all non-jws, and has had many other relationships as well.

The cult sure like to break up families, as you know if they get a foot hold in your family there will be no talking to the non JW family members. -

Disfellowshipping Image
by naazira inthis photo can be found in the april 15 , study edition article titled:.
why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

Good observation. You know they must have marketing people and every little detail of this picture is deliberate. The WT is famous for putting information into pictures that only the R&F dubs get it. I remember an article where they show a young brother and an elder cut it out and posted it on the back bulletin board with hand written comments like, "see how long is sideburns are". That way if the WT is challenged they can say we don't tell our members how to dress or how to cut their hair. -

New arrangement from C.O.
by Doctor Who ini think most on here will be familiar with the caller hook up system that many congregations use.
visit about 2 months ago.
during our servant and elders meeting he was talking up the importance of meeting attendance and how we "gods spirit appointed men" must take the lead on making every meeting.

As far as I know they don't give this our to just every dub but only those they deem as having a legit reason, otherwise their fear would be everyone would just stay home and listen to it via phone feed. -

This actually makes me a little sad. There was a time where, even though I was not 100% in, I loved my brother's and sister's in my cong and would have LOVED to have experienced something like this. I LONGED for things like this to happen at the kingdom hall. I would hear about other church's that had live music and thought that would be SO COOL to have. Something to brighten up a hum drum meeting, something to make me WANT to go and take my kids to.
I always thought that was a big mistake when the org went away from the live orchestras at the conventions. It made the different volunteers in the orchestras feel like they actually contributed toward the convention. The prerecorded Kingdum Songs sounded too canned and so impersonal. I even got a chance to play at a convention.
